Rubik's
The Rubik's cube was invented by Erno Rubik in 1974, but did not reach worldwide fame until the early 80's. The cube has its place in history as one of the most successful puzzles of all time, with such company as the Tangram, pentominos, soma cubes and crossword puzzles. The cube is still very popular today, with annual contests to determine who can solve the puzzle in the shortest time (currently 11.13 seconds). Not to rest on their laurels, Rubik's have produced several new puzzles with the same fiendish simplicity and build quality such as the Rubik's Snake Puzzle and the Rubik's Magic Rings.
